We have reached the most perfect honeymoon destination of our trip: French Polynesia! Arriving late in Papeete, we decided to spend one night in Tahiti before boarding the next day for Moorea… a 10 minute flight, but which made a HUGE difference: leaving the busy rumble of Tahiti for pure tropical paradise. We definitely spoilt ourselves this time staying for 4 days in a beautiful French luxury resort… full of Italian honeymooners (just to make sure we really felt home away from home)!
Not that we want to sensor anything that happened here, but our days all looked very much alike: an early breakfast full of fruits (great pineapple!), lounging and reading on a heavenly white sand beach, some physical exercise (you have seen François at work on the last series of pictures on the Easter Island), snorkeling in the middle of beautiful corals and colorful fishes… and finishing off the day with a great dinner: fish and local dances. What a tough routine!!! We also bought a disposable underwater camera, so we hope to share with you some of our underwater discoveries as soon as we get a chance to develop the film (what an archaic thing to do nowadays)! The Italians gave us some additional pressure to dress-up in the evenings, so we definitely traded our trekking uniform for some more trendy clothes…
Concerning the dances, François almost broke his back in the bathroom trying to imitate some of the moves done by the guys… it would have been a terrible way to end the holidays in a premature way! The first nights, we watched the show from somewhat of a distance, but for the last evening, we managed to reserve prime seats just in front of the stage… What a disappointment: while the other nights we were impressed by the costumes (and the physique) of both women and men dancers, we ended-up with a group of overweight Tahitians which definitely had too many Mahi Mahi Burgers and Hinano beer!
We are now going on a 10 day sailing trip around the islands, so apologies; it might be a little more difficult for François to find his holy WIFI.
P.S. No celebrations here for the Belgian National Day… but we still cross our fingers for a government for when we come back in September!
Waw, sublime!!! que dire de plus?
